YEEDM — “yee-haw” plus “EDM” — is country music built over electronic dance production. Not country songs with a remix tacked on the end, and not dance records with a slide guitar sample: the vocal, the writing and the attitude stay country while the floor underneath is a house or festival record.
It started as a hashtag rather than a genre. Country and dance have been circling each other for years, and once enough DJs were quietly dropping country vocals into sets, the internet gave it a name. It is still largely a SoundCloud and festival phenomenon rather than a radio format, which is part of the appeal.

What does country EDM actually sound like?
Usually a recognisable country vocal kept intact, with the acoustic backing replaced or supplemented by four-on-the-floor drums, synth bass and a dance arrangement. The point is that the song still reads as country — the twang, the storytelling — while working on a dancefloor.
